Being the core of HKIB, the Department has been established since the Institute was founded. This Department offers a unique infrastructure in Hong Kong to support process development in biotechnology. This facility provides a prompt solution for biotech start-up companies to initiate their business with minimal up-front capital investment on sophisticated equipment, manpower and instrument maintenance.
Through local and international industrial collaboration, the Department has successfully completed numerous bioprocessing and pharmaceutical projects. We offer a wide range of services such as process development from laboratory to pilot scale and production of biopharmaceutical ingredients for clinical trial. These facilitate the industrialization of upstream research results of biotech companies. Our strategic collaboration partners are across academia, industry and governmental bodies.
