1. To promote and encourage scientific
advances in all aspects of biotechnology;

| 2. To promote and encourage the development
of a successful and prosperous modern biotechnology in Hong Kong; |
| |
| 3. To carry out research, development,
and experimental work in biotechnology and its application and use,
either independently or jointly with governmental bodies, educational
and research institutions |
| |
| 4. To promote and participate in biotechnology
development programmes in collaboration with governmental bodies,
educational and research institutions and industrial and commercial
organizations both in Hong Kong and elsewhere for the above purpose
or any of them; |
| |
| 5. To organize, finance, establish
and control, either alone or in collaboration with others companies,
for the purpose of carrying on the business of manufacturing, developing,
processing, commercializing and dealing in all kinds of biotechnological
industry products, preparations, materials, articles and compounds
and apparatus, appliances and equipment for use in connection therewith,
and to enter into such agreements and arrangements with any other
persons or bodies for the above purpose as the Institute may think
fit; |

| 6. To construct, operate, and maintain
administrataive and research facilities for the above purposes or
any of them; |
| |
| 7. To solicit, procure, and accept
donations gifts of property and financial support of all kinds from
any person corporation or institution for the above purposes or any
of them; |
| |
| 8. To manufacture, refine, and deal
in all kinds of biotechnological industry preparations, materials,
articles and compounds for the above purposes or any of them; |
